Fitness that is worth your time and money!

by admin on March 25th, 2009

Winter is over and now it is time to get back into the swing of your normal exercise routine. The sun has come up and the temperatures have risen and it is nice enough to exercise outside, but for those who prefer an indoor exercise area, here are some tips on where to go and how to choose the perfect gym for you. With tips from one of the best gyms in the country I have become very acquainted to a North Shore Personal Fitness and I can say from experience that I am deeply involved with North Shore Personal Trainer.

Any gym that you choose should have the correct equipment and/or classes for what you want to do. If you want to increase your cardio strength, a weightlifting gym may not be the best because you will, most likely, not be trying to bulk up. If you have children and you want your children to be involved in your exercise experience, you may want to choose a gym that offers classes or things to do for children. Any classes offered to you should be geared towards your goal. For example, if your goal is complete weight loss, you may want to try a high-volume dance class or even a spin class, but I would highly recommend not taking a yoga class if your main goal in losing weight.

Your gym should offer a large list of classes as well as perks for your membership. You want to get your money’s worth, and if they don’t even offer sweat towels, you may want to choose a different gym. Your gym should make you feel comfortable. It should not be too far of a drive and it most definitely should not have certain rules that make you feel like you are being watched. If you are going to get in trouble for something at a local gym, you may want to switch to something that is more laid back. Like I have stated before, your gym should be comfortable for you.

Also, your gym should have enough qualified staff for when you need them. Make sure that the staff is properly trained and that you can trust their personal fitness skills. If you cannot trust your gym employees, then they are not doing their job correctly and you may, again, need to find a different gym that satisfies your needs.

All in all, your gym should be a place of paradise so that working out becomes more fun than it is hassle. If your exercise routine becomes more fun, then you will gradually get used to it and your winter jeans will eventually be thrown in the garbage. Get ready to start a whole new you and find a gym that you can commit yourself to. Once this happens then you are 100% ready to begin your peregrination through a workout, strength training, or a fun time of health and fitness. Get off the couch and get to the gym to reserve your membership today!

Help – I’m About To Have A Hair Laser Removal Session For The First Time!

by admin on October 16th, 2008

Your very first laser hair removal appointment can be exhilirating or nerve-wracking or both! Here is a handy checklist of things to think about:

Four weeks or more in advance

Talk about pain management with your laser hair removal clinic and decide on a plan.

There are topical anesthetics such as EMLA, which you apply to your skin. These products are very valuable if you are concerned about pain during the treatment, however do be careful if you are spreading it on large areas of skin as the chemicals are absorbed into the bloodstream. Ensure you follow the guidelines with care.

Lose your tan! The paler your skin is at the time you get your laser hair removal treatment, the more successful and long lasting your results from laser hair removal are likely to be.

It’s important to stop using depilation creams, waxing, epilating, sugaring and tweezing a minimum of 2 weeks before treatment, and ideally a month or more prior. These depilation methods interfere with the root that the laser hair removal treatment aims to blast.

Decide whether you want to take photos of the body areas you are having treated to monitor your progress. The clinic may do this but even so you may want to take some too.

The week of your appointment

Post treatment side effects are reasonably rare, as long as your hair laser removal appointment is with a reputable clinic who have properly serviced systems and well trained staff. However your skin will most likely be red after the appointment so if you are getting facial laser hair removal then you might want to think about the option of whether you need to take the rest of the day off your job if you’re at all concerned about others realizing you had some treatment done.

24 Hours to go!

Now is a perfect time to shave the body areas you are going to have laser hair removal carried out on. If you shave within 24 hours of the treatment you will experience less pain and it can also be more successful because less of the laser energy is used pointlessly on torching the hair above the skin, meaning a greater proportion of the laser energy is directed where it is required, at the root, to kill it off.

On the morning

If you are having your underarms lasered, give the deodorant a miss. Just wash your underarms with soap and rinse properly. If it’s a hot day and there’s a danger you might get too sweaty before your appointment, you could use unscented baby wipes to remove any smells.

For any body areas, don’t put lotions or creams on before laser hair removal.

20 minutes prior to your appointment

For those of us who get a bit concerned at the thought of pain from laser hair removal, taking two pain killers at this point seems like a really good idea – just to be on the safe side!

Wishing you a successful and relaxing hair laser removal treatment!
